Commissioned in February 1909 (42nd<\/sup> year of the Meiji period). The surviving documents consist of a commission form, lyrics sheet, musical score, musical score cover letter, payment slip, and a letter of appreciation.<\/p>\n

Instructions written in the cover letter of the musical score indicate that Kazutoshi Ueda (Doctor of Literature and then a professor at Tokyo Imperial University) was entrusted with the revision of the lyrics. Furthermore, he also revised the lyrics to Jinjo Shogaku Shoka<\/em> (\u201cPrimary School Songs\u201d).<\/p>\n

The lyricist is believed to have been a teacher at this school; however, further details are currently unavailable. The music composer, then a tutor at the Tokyo Academy of Music, is also known for songs such as Akatonbo<\/em> (\u201cRed Dragonfly\u201d) and Karatachi no Hana<\/em> (\u201cThe Flower of Trifoliate Orange\u201d).<\/p>\n

At that time, the composer used the name Kosaku, which was his real name, in the original score of this song written by him and we have also followed this original notation. The name of the lyricist was verified through 90 Years of Ujiyamada High School<\/em> (1989, p. 22), a publication of the Ujiyamada High School\u2019s 90th<\/sup> Anniversary History Compilation Committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
